Michael's prime research interests focus on behavioural and social change with a particular emphasis upon innovation and adoption of technologies. Much of his work has a 'futures' orientation.

Outside of understanding more general social change he has a specific interest in exploring the consequences of change from the perspective of corporate strategy, corporate and product innovation and future adaptation. Much of his work is with Senior Managers of Corporations, where he endeavours to provide 'expert' advice and content but probably more importantly a space for managers to reflect and endeavour to more fully understand their position, decision making and strategies within environments that are often complex and indeterminate.
